Chris, who lives high above Central Park on 5th Avenue, took one look at the installation of "The Gates" from her window and decided to celebrate. The elegant afternoon gathering started with snow-boots and ended with a champagne toast to Christo and Jeanne-Claude.
With snowfall the previous night and gleaming sun on the day of the party, the installation of orange billowing fabric against the white snow and the black outline of the bare trees was stunning. Many guests had come straight from the park and brought a sense of wonderment with them.
We filled Chris' home with piles of citrus, orange fabric from the installation, open-faced salmon toasts, tangerine marmalade tea sandwiches, and carrot bisque in demitasse cups. With Christo and Jeanne-Claude's generosity inspiring Chris' own celebration, we brought the outside in.

Lucy and Greg's late afternoon wedding took place as the July sun was beginning its descent behind Mt. Tamalpais. At the Marin Art and Garden Center, 150 guests gathered by a glittering pond for the ceremony.
Dinner followed on the upper lawn, under a canopy of huge oak trees. One of the couple's favorite restaurants prepared the menu with freshness, seasonality, and beauty. Stuffed eggplant bundles, Israeli couscous salad, and grilled chicken breasts with Catalan relish brought the celebration to the Mediterranean and back again.
Lucy had always imagined her own role in her wedding, and when the time came, she chose to personalize each table with a symbol of growth and beauty. By planting different herbs in clay pots that she and Greg brought from Oregon, they reflected their elegant yet unpretentious attitudes and aesthetics. Candlelight kept the celebration intimate as night fell.
Lucy's vision of her wedding revealed itself in the detailsa simple cupcake stand in lieu of a traditional tiered affair, the umbrellas provided for the comfort and shade of friends and family, the tiny nerves of her ring bearer and flower girl calmed by her choice to let them walk down the aisle together.
